Registration Now Open for 2023 PSI Conference

The PSI Scientific Committee announces that registration is now open for the 2023 PSI Conference. The event will be taking place in Hammersmith, London on 11-14 June 2023. The early bird deadline for registrations is 29 March.

As in previous years the conference will contain a mix of plenary and parallel sessions as well as interactive workshops and a poster session.  This year for the first time the conference introduces a session with several shorter TED-style talks on non-technical topics. There will also be 2 hot-topics plenary sessions, one on regulatory and the other on HTA topics.

The two keynote speakers for the conference are Timandra Harkness and Andy Grieve. Timandra is a writer, broadcaster and presenter who since winning the Independent newspaper’s column-writing competition has written for many publications including the Telegraph, Guardian, Sunday Times, Unherd, BBC Focus magazine, WIRED, Men’s Health and Significance. She has also written a book “Big Data: does size matter?” and has performed improvised & stand-up comedy, toured with a tented circus and she formed the first comedy science double-act in the UK with neuroscientist Dr Helen Pilcher. The topic of her talk will follow soon.

Dr Andy Grieve is a Fellow, Chartered Statistician and former president of the Royal Statistical Society; Fellow of the American Statistical Association and honorary life-member of Statisticians in the Pharmaceutical Industry of which he is a past-Chairman and founder-member. Andy will speak on the topic of “If you Can’t Teach an Old Dog New Tricks, Can Old Dogs Teach Young Ones Old Tricks?” and will emphasise the value of having learnt the practice of statistics in an era not dominated by ever quicker computers.
