Extension to Deadline for Submissions for Environmetrics Special Issue: Statistical Inference for Natural Resources and Biodiversity

NOTE THE EXTENSION TO THE SUBMISSION DATE. NOW 31 OCTOBER 2023. See below for details.

Environmetrics invites submissions for a Special Issue on Statistical Inference for Natural Resources and Biodiversity.

The investigation of the environment and connected problems represents a burning issue for current scientific research. The rapid decline of biodiversity at global and local scales, the increase in the number of damaged species and desertification processes due to climate changes, land-use changes and air pollution, the conservation and enhancement of forest carbon stocks paired with the sustainable management of forests and animal populations are solely some of the issues requiring a reliable assessment of environmental indicators, as well as a suitable modelling for explanation and prediction purposes.

In this context, the Special Issue derives from the Second International Workshop on “Statistical Inference for Assessing and Monitoring Natural Resources and Biodiversity”, held at the Department of Economics and Statistics of the University of Siena on 8-9 November 2022, and supported by the NBFC (funded by Italian Ministry of University and Research PNRR, Project CN00000033). In accordance with the workshop’s main goals, this Special Issue aims to gather environmental statisticians and quantitative naturalists to propose and discuss methodological advances as well as to apply enhanced methodologies in the field of environmental and biodiversity research.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • species distribution
  • habitat assessment
  • biodiversity assessment
  • wildlife populations monitoring
  • forest resources monitoring
  • remote sensing for environmental monitoring
  • sampling strategies for plant and animal populations
  • soil, water, and air quality monitoring

How to Submit

To submit your work, submit via the Research Exchange link on the Environmetrics home page.

Log in and select ‘Research article’ as manuscript type.

In the Additional Information section, indicate that you are submitting for a special issue and select Statistical Inference for Natural Resources and Biodiversity. Complete the submission.

The Intended Authorship

Statisticians and quantitative naturalists who can proffer substantive statistical advances for assessing and monitoring ecological diversity and the effects of environmental variables on plant and animal communities. Authors should propose novel or enhanced statistical methodology with clear applications to these topics.

The Intended Readership

Professional statisticians, scholars, and researchers concerned with quantitative issues in the environmental, ecological, and associated biological sciences.
