In this talk, attendees are invited to join in a short tour through the analytical workflow of data analysis in process industries. The tour contemplates several discussion points, where current challenges are addressed in more detail, or a broader perspective is provided of the landscape of solutions available to address them. Topics include the intermingle of analysis goals, data structure, prior knowledge and analytical methods. Also discussed is the need to incorporate diagnostics of correlation structure, effects sparsity, non-linearity, non-stationarity, data quality and dynamics, in order to better define the design of the analytic solution. Some examples are shared regarding the prediction of process Key Performance Indices.
