UN Statistics Division appoints Acting Head

The Statistics Division of the United Nations has announced the appointment of an Acting Director further to Paul Cheung’s resignation at the end of last year.

The Secretary-General has appointed Mr. Stefan Schweinfest who will carry out the responsibilities of the Acting Director until a new Director is selected, in accordance with the standard United Nations selection procedures. Mr Schweinfest is also Chief of the Statistical Services Branch.

Paul Cheung resigned at the end of 2012 after nine years in the role to return to teaching. Statistics Views recently interviewed him and the interview can be read here.
