Glen Watson has been appointed Director General of ONS

Glen Watson has been appointed Director General of the Office for National Statistics. He replaces Stephen Penneck, who retires in September.

Watson has worked at the ONS since 2004, where he started as programme director for neighbourhood statistics. He became census director in 2007 and was responsible for all aspects of the design, planning and delivery of the 2011 census.
