Pitman Medal Awarded to Alan Welsh, Managing Editor of the Australian & New Zealand Journal of Statistics

In July 2012, the Statistical Society of Australia awarded a Pitman Medal to Professor Alan Welsh of the Australian National University in Canberra.

The Society only makes this award to members who have achieved a high distinction in Statistics and Professor Welsh is the 19th recipient of the award since its inception in 1978. He has made a strong contribution across many areas in Statistics, including the building of models for complex data, and his work is being applied to a broad range of applications in other disciplines. Professor Welsh is the current Managing Editor of the Australian & New Zealand Journal of Statistics.
