During the Royal Statistical Society's conference in Telford, a Getstats workshop is being held.

This short workshop, on 5th September 2012, will involve introductory talks on communicating statistics to the general pubilc, followed by group discussions and a brainstorming session.

Getstats aims to build wider public awareness of the uses and benefits of statistics and statistical thinking. Statisticians are well placed to reach out to their networks to talk about the power of data and statistics, encouraging more people to find out more about the role of statistics in their lives. In this workshop we will look at what makes a good communicator, how to take up or create opportunities to communicate about statistics and how to use those opportunities once you have them. No preparation necessary. Everybody welcome.
