NOTE THE NEW DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS. EXTENDED TO 30 MARCH 2024
The academic data science consulting and collaboration space is growing and changing rapidly. Practices for organizing and providing data science and statistical support vary widely depending on the needs of the academic community and the available resources. In recognition of this, we are excited to announce a special issue of the journal Stat focusing on models for consulting and collaboration in higher education.
We invite consultants, collaborators, and program leaders to submit manuscripts that address building and running data science and/or statistical research infrastructure and support services. These programs can be administratively located within university libraries, academic departments, schools, academies, and institutes, and professional organizations. Topics of interest include but are not limited to:
- Funding and/or staffing models
- The impact of institutional culture on program development
- Equity in the consulting and collaborative space, including power and respect dynamics
- Skills development for consulting and collaborative data scientists and statisticians
- Process development for consulting and collaborative work
- Needs evaluation, program assessment, and sustainability
We are interested in papers representing a variety of perspectives and experiences in order to facilitate a broader understanding of the different approaches and best practices for implementing effective consulting programs.
The co-editors of this issue are Emily Griffith and Mara Blake.
We will begin accepting submissions on 3 July 2023, and would like authors to submit their manuscripts by 30 March 2024. If you need more time, please let one of the editors know. Stat is known for quality papers and a quick review process, with most accepted papers published within 30 days of submission. Submissions should be made via the Research Exchange submission portal.
Please consider submitting a manuscript and sharing this invitation with others.
