This special TIES Regional conference is a satellite meeting to WSC2013 and will be held in Guangzhou, China just prior to WSC 2013.

The proposed conference venue, Guangzhou (about 150km from Hong Kong, 2 hours by train), is located in South China, which is the first special economic zone (SEZ) in China after its opening policy in 1980s which is now a very well developed region in China due to it position as the "world factory". However, it is facing serious environmental issues due to its rapid economic development. The governments at different levels have invested huge amounts of money to fix its environmental problems such as air and water pollution, and water shortage. This conference is aligned with key issues faced by the governments and research community.
